Khartoum 11-22-2022 (SUNA) – The Minister of Information and Culture, Dr. Graham Abdel-Qader, received in his office today the Minister of Culture and Information of the Government of the Darfur Region, Dr. Mustafa Al-Jamil. The meeting dealt with a number of points related to culture, media, heritage and antiquities in the region, in the presence of Professor Musa Daoud and Professor Sarah Muhammad Abdullah.
The meeting stressed the need to pay attention to heritage, culture and antiquities in the region, and to pay attention to prominent personalities.
He stressed the need for joint coordination with other media and private institutions, in addition to media centers.
Dr. Graham emphasized the necessity of training in the radio and technical field, as well as presenting and directing in all the radio stations in the states of Darfur.
He also appealed to the Minister to unify one radio station in Darfur and structure it so that it can deal with all issues in a clearer manner, including the issues of the countries of the region such as Chad and others, and pay attention to the unity of images and archiving to preserve materials and then benefit from them in other activities.
For his part, the Secretary-General said that there are problems facing the antiquities in Darfur, especially the Museum of Sultan Ali Dinar and Nyala and Al-Khair, and they must be addressed and restored next to the Palace of Sultan Ali Dinar.
The minister also proposed the establishment of a center in the name of Halima Sultan Ali Dinar to train handicrafts in El Fasher, and then generalize it to the rest of the states of Darfur through a rehabilitation workshop and the establishment of a folk and cultural heritage festival that brings together the people of Darfur.
