El Geneina 11-22-2022 (SUNA) – The Governor of West Darfur, General Khamis Abdullah Abkar, described his meetings that took place during his visits to the state of North Darfur and the federal government in Khartoum as fruitful, during which he discussed issues of human rights violations in the region and endeavored to take a number of local, regional and international decisions regarding the prosecution of criminals. This came during a press briefing he gave today in the VIP lounge at Al-Shaheed Al-Sabirah International Airport about the results of his visit to the state of North Darfur and the federal capital, Khartoum, and his meeting with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Director of Community Peace for East Africa at the United Nations, and the Director of Sudan’s policies at the United Nations and the tripartite mechanism. He demanded the need to cooperate with the Government of Sudan to establish special courts in Darfur to try perpetrators of human rights violations in accordance with the provisions of the Juba Peace Agreement and other agreements. He called for the necessity of involving the regions and states in all political dialogues to reach an agreement and get out of the political crisis that Sudan is going through, address the issues of the displaced and refugees, and participate in the upcoming elections. Confirming the response of the tripartite mechanism by conducting tours of the states in the coming days to listen to the views of citizens in the states and their participation in the dialogues to reach a final agreement.
