Khartoum 11-22-2022 (SUNA) Ambassador Yasser Ibrahim, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Lakes Region, said today at the Supreme Security Academy in Khartoum, when addressing the closing session, that the convening of the meetings of the Regional Coordination Committee of Security and Intelligence Leaders in the Great Lakes countries comes under complex circumstances in the eastern Lakes region, along with tension And conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The region is facing armed movements that continue to commit many atrocities against innocent civilians and attack the security services, calling for concerted efforts and coordination among the countries of the region to face these challenges.
Al-Safir Yasser explained to me the importance of working to establish a collective security system in the region free of old and new divisions in order to respect the sovereignty and independence of states in order to achieve peace and stability through resolving disputes by peaceful means, controlling weapons, activating disarmament and monitoring measures, and illegal exploitation of natural resources must be fought.
It is noteworthy that Ambassador Yasser addressed the opening session, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Government of Sudan for hosting this important meeting and the facilities that were placed in their hands, which contributed to the success of this meeting.
